DESCRIPTION
This tour is the summer version of the Marcialonga – one of the most iconic races in the Alps. From Canazei, where the race starts every winter, you ride down through the same valleys that in summer transform into a spectacular cycle path: a route that combines sport, history and landscape. You ride through Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme, where the Dolomite spires give way to forests and mountain villages, all the way to Cavalese – the beating heart of the Marcialonga. From there, the tour continues south through the vineyards of South Tyrol along the historic Vecia Ferrovia cycle path, through tunnels and suspended bridges. After a night in Termeno, home of the Gewürztraminer, the ride continues to Lago di Caldaro and the Adige Sud cycle path – flat, relaxed and rolling all the way to Trento, a city of culture and Renaissance charm. The final stage follows the Adige Valley cycle path, past castles, vineyards and historic borghi. A stop at Castel Pietra offers a glimpse of the Middle Ages before the last stretch to Rovereto and Torbole, where the view of Lake Garda marks the arrival at the finish line: the "sea of Northern Italy" .
