Awareness of risk is a process that must go through information.

For this reason, we have developed and optimized a communication system focused both on the principle of knowledge and on self-responsibility. Every phase of online contact with the user – from the selection of the activity, to the purchase of the service, up to the booking confirmation – is accompanied by the viewing and then acceptance of specific disclaimers. The process continues at the time of the activity, when the leaders, instructors or Alpine Guides verify, before welcoming the participants, that they are truly aware of how to best manage the overall experience.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

Technical equipment plays a crucial role in carrying out the activity.

For this reason, at Outdoor Safety First it is most important to first adopt certain precautions that, when properly systematised, guarantee greater risk mitigation. In addition to developing an analytical and detailed system to monitor the hours of use of all equipment and PPE provided for the activities, Outdoor Safety First also identifies:

• The use of equipment certified by recognized quality systems, excluding self-made and/or modified solutions
• Strict adherence to the usage instructions provided by manufacturers
• Implementing a quality procedure to evaluate the suitability of the equipment used

WASHING AND SANITIZATION

Washing and sanitizing of the equipment and surfaces in direct contact with users are increasingly relevant topics.

Besides the regulations in the field, we consider it important to adopt a procedural system that ensures the best results for people’s safety and health. To delve into this sensitive topic, which requires new levels of service, we have optimized and implemented a new management system:

• Pre-washing and drying
• Sanitizing using ozone
• Packaging of equipment (when possible)
• Guarantee seals

Currently, we have developed procedures by testing solutions for equipment like sports helmets and canyoning wetsuits.

TRAINING OF GUIDES, COLLABORATORS AND EMPLOYEES

Daily field experience is a continuous resource that allows us to enhance the professionalism of our team members in their various roles.

Our internal protocols derive from these experiences and continue to evolve thanks to the exchange among professionals, keeping pace with the development of materials and techniques. These protocols are a tool that improves the service offered to our guests and helps our guides. Being part of a work environment that strives for excellence also stimulates the interest in studying and updating one’s skills. To this end, the Outdoor Players propose, among other things:

• Initial shadowing for new guides or instructors
• Periodic organization of BLS-D and wilderness first aid courses
• Themed internal training courses (teaching techniques, maintenance, local area knowledge, and communication)
