DESCRIPTION

Skins on your skis, a steady rhythm on the ascent and a descent that calls for careful judgement. Ski touring opens up new ways to experience the mountains in winter, combining fitness, technique and an understanding of the environment.

Ski Alp Progress is Mmove’s ski touring course for anyone looking to get started or strengthen their foundations, accompanied by a mountain guide.

The course combines three online evening sessions with three days on snow. The online sessions cover snow, avalanches and tour planning. In the mountains, we put theory into practice: companion rescue, uphill and downhill technique, snowpack observation and terrain assessment.

With 3–6 participants per guide, there is time to practise, ask questions and understand the decisions involved in preparing and carrying out a ski tour.

No previous ski touring experience is required. You must be a confident skier on at least red runs and have the fitness to manage 800–1,000 metres of ascent per day.

Locations will be selected according to snow cover and current conditions.
